Lotus est la marque qui détient le record de production de ces biscuits, appelés exactement Speculoos, qui ont littéralement marqué l’histoire de la Belgique. En effet, ils étaient préparés pendant les fêtes de Noël et ce n’est que plus tard qu’il a été décidé de donner plus de visibilité à ces biscuits, particulièrement appréciés pour leur goût et leur fondant. L’idée de les réduire en une crème à tartiner vient d’Els Scheppers, un concurrent qui a atteint la demi-finale lors d’un show télévisé pour inventeurs. C’est ensuite Lotus qui a acheté son idée et a produit sur le marché cette crème qui fond littéralement en bouche. Parfaite sur du pain de mie, pour garnir un gâteau ou, pour les plus gourmands, à la cuiller.
